Shrine Of Golden Light

I drank from the offering bowl—milk and turmeric.

Warm and golden as sunrise.

Then the air around me shifted.

She emerged from the altar’s light: tall, radiant, her skin aglow like polished alabaster kissed by dawn, hair cascading in molten waves of gold, eyes deep and bright as amber. She moved without sound, yet every silk banner above us stirred at her passing.

The shrine itself was a temple of quiet majesty - arched sandstone columns etched with sun symbols and ancient prayers, soft star-shaped lanterns floating midair, silks in pale gold and dusky rose trailing from the high dome. Incense coiled in slow spirals, and beneath the altar, water ran over glowing stones, casting liquid sunlight across the floor.

Beside me, a dark elf knelt in silence, and across the shrine, others held their cups, transfixed in the same breathless awe.

The goddess raised one hand over my head. In her other, she held a single golden petal, warm and luminous.

“Keep it close,” she said. “It remembers the light, even when you do not.”

My chest ached with the sudden clarity of it.

Then she was gone. The shrine stilled.

But the taste lingered on my tongue—sweet, spiced, sacred.
