History -100 years of experience
The history of the Podor goes back only to 2011 but the story of our press master started as early as 1907. Representing the 4th generation, he carries on the family tradition and the experience, aspiring continuously to preserve all the valuable knowledge while adjusting it to the expectations of our modern age.
About manufacturing
All seeds and nuts are cultivated and bought whole and in pristine condition for Podor, exclusively in select regions where the raw ingredients grow best. After harvesting they are brought to cold storage immediately and kept there at specific temperatures and humidity levels. Before pressing, the seeds are thoroughly washed. Cold-pressing process is an important factor for ensuring that all the oils retain so many flavour nuances. Podor works with mechanical oil presses, which slightly warm the ground seeds before the highly experienced press master cold-press them by hand.
Cold-pressing Method
To retain the ingredients and the aromas to the greatest extent possible the raw materials are only slightly warmed before they are pressed. At pressing the oil from olives, linseeds and other raw materials is extracted and filled unfiltered into containers. This is the way to ensure that all the important contents of the oils are retained until they settle.
The result: Oils that make the difference ? in taste, aroma, look and of course effect.
Because cold-pressed makes all the difference
Whoever has tried cold-pressed vegetable oils will never again resort to refined versions. Cold-pressed oils are a sensual experience ? they caress the nose and the palate as well as enchanting the eye with their clear colours. The unaltered taste of the seeds, kernels and nuts is captured in the Podor oils.
Gentle cold-pressing is a process that has been known of and used for centuries. At Podor this good tradition has been passed on and instructed for decades. So as to retain the ingredients and the aromas to the greatest extent possible the raw materials are only slightly warmed before they are pressed. At pressing the oil from pumpkin seeds, walnuts and other raw materials is extracted and filled unfiltered into containers. This is the way to ensure that all the important contents of the oils are retained until they settle. The result: oils that make the difference ? in taste, aroma, look and of course effect.
We are convinced that for high quality vinegars nothing other than first class raw materials is required. Due to the gentle production of the vinegars many substances are retained and find their way into the bottles. The juice is first pressed from the fruits, then it is fermented and matured into vinegar in oak barrels. Balsamic vinegars are made according to the traditional pressing method used for each fruit. Podor vinegars are not filtered and that is why pectins, secondary plant compounds, vitamins, trace elements and minerals are contained in concentrated form.
Podor mustards and pestos are produced in accordance with strict quality inspections so that, in the end, only the very best product lands in the jar. It is a matter of course for us not to work with chemical additives and aromas. Selected raw materials and a gentle production process ensure that the resulting mustard meets your high expectations and valuable substances remain in the end product.
