HOT ! Modern Textured Moroccan Rug

Overview:

This is a contemporary creation from our artisan partners in the south of Morocco. Their rugs sometimes offer surprising twists on traditional weaving styles and this rug is no different, combining two different weaving styles into one beautiful composition. The purple section is handknotted, featuring a low pile that is densely woven together.

The interior of the rug is woven using the Zanafi embroidery method. This techinque produces an inverse of the design  on the opposite side of the rug. In that sense, Zanafi rugs are often double-sided. We flipped this rug around to see what it looked like, and the reverse was just as interesting! In Morocco it\'s not uncommon to find rugs that have a \"summer\" and a \"winter\" side. Check out the photos to see what the \"summer\" side looks like! Not only is the design interesting, but the shape is too. As a near perfect square, this rug would look great in a smaller living room, a large entranceway, as a wall-hanging, or in a kid\'s room, for the tactile experience.
