Originally unveiled at the 1960 Milan Triennale, this innovative chair—Japan’s first to feature a racket (mortise-and-tenon) structure—has been beautifully redesigned by renowned designer Daisaku Cho. At the time, the exhibition space was created by the Junzo Sakakura Architectural Institute, where Nagai, then a staff designer, was responsible for the furniture design.
The organically curved backrest was inspired by the elegant arc of a persimmon sliced vertically in half. Perfect as a refined dining chair, it pairs seamlessly with Cho’s own Mushroom Base Table.
The Triennale edition features a soft, wool-blend two-tone upholstery, showcasing a color palette personally selected by Cho to convey a warm and gentle impression.
