This rug was handwoven by artisans in Oued Zem.
Oued Zem is nestled in the Middle Atlas Mountains just north of the village of Beni Mellal, the capital of the nearby region.
This weaving style is called Boucherouite.
Boucherouite (pronounced boo-shay-reet) rugs were not originally intended to be sold as they were mostly used by the Amazigh in their own homes, as modest carpets. Some called them \'rag rugs\' as they are made of various recycled pre-used clothing or textile scraps.--technical detailsSize: 4\'-7\" x 8\'-10\" (1.40 x 2.70 m)Rug Style: BoucherouitePile: Small to MediumMaterials: Wool, Torn Fabric & Yarn
