Abadeh Persian Rug 208x150 cm (6.82x4.92 ft) – Semi Antique Vintage Hand-Knotted Wool Carpet (1950s/60s)
This vintage Abadeh Persian rug is a true masterpiece of Persian craftsmanship. Hand-knotted in the Abadeh region of northern Fars, Persia, this semi antique wool carpet combines durability, rich design, and timeless elegance.
Design & Craftsmanship
A typical Abadeh rug features a bold hexagonal central field with an octagonal medallion in the center. The inner field is decorated with stylized life trees, while animals, plants, and flowers reflect the artistic influence of the Qashqai nomads of Southern Persia. Traditionally woven in shades of red and blue, this piece features a beautiful Zil-I-Sultan vase design, making it especially collectible.
The rug is hand-knotted with the asymmetrical Persian knot, on a cotton foundation with a pure wool pile. With approx. 120,000–360,000 knots/m² depending on fineness, Abadeh rugs are known for their strength and beauty.
