Detailed information on Tin Decoration (Folded Scallop Shell)

PRODUCT DETAILS

Size: 13 cm x 13cm

Materials: Hand-made tin decoration, double sided, three-dimensional life size scallop shell. Gold-painted interior.

Each tin decoration is threaded with satin silver ribbon, ready to hang and arrives wrapped within a card which tells the story of the decorations.

Please be aware that these decorations are not toys and are not suitable for children.

THE STORY

Floating down from above are our latest collection of decorations.

Designed in-house, the decorations began life as pencil drawings inspired by characters seen on frescoes in early English country churches and in 18th century \'shell grottos\'. These sketches were then developed with skilled craftsmen in Mexico.

Stags with golden antlers, life-sized shells, sirens, ships and shooting stars are all featured in the collection.

Tin work, known in Mexico as hojalata, goes back to the 16th century. Known as ‘poor man’s silver’, it is perfect for decorations; light to hang and catches the light beautifully with all the embossed detailing.
