What sets this piece apart is the contemporary shape and clever use of the stone. It displays a range of colour that pounamu is renowned for and it is well displayed in this piece. We particularly like the use of pāua shell for one eye, and red wax for the other.

TWO WORLDS is a manaia design. These are considered guardians and were traditionally worn to honour and remember ancestors. To draw strength and wisdom from your ancestors for the challenges you may face in the future. This piece is well worthy of that role. The tail of the Manaia culminates into a hook design - representing abundance and adventure.

The Manaia: a mythical being believed to be the invisible light, or aura, surrounding a person. They represent spiritual power and are believed to be the guide that leads the spirits to heaven. They are worn to guide and protect.
