Designer: Bruno Rey Brand: Hay Colors: Light Green, Black, Slate Blue, Red, Navy Blue, Gold, Brown, Mint, Purple Material: Beech, Metal Dimensions: L80 x l44 x D49 cm
Based on the original Rey collection designed by Swiss designer Bruno Rey in 1971, HAY has teamed up with Dietiker to relaunch the Rey chair. With its distinctive rounded edges and curved back, it was the first chair to be patented with Dietiker\'s unique screwless wood-to-metal connection and became one of the most popular Swiss chairs of all time.
Its solid construction, strength and stackable design give it a timeless quality that allows it to be used in a wide variety of domestic, public or business settings. The iconic chair has been modified in new dimensions and material combinations to meet the demands of contemporary lifestyle. Made from solid wood, it is available in the original colors, as well as new tones and upholstered seating options selected by HAY. The Rey chair is available with two types of legs, the Classics Feet, designed for all types of floors, and the Parquet Feet, which are designed to blend in as well as possible with your parquet floor, without scratching it of course!
Bruno Rey was born in 1933 in Brugg, Switzerland. After an apprenticeship as a cabinetmaker, he studied at the Zurich School of Applied Arts, where he took lessons from the pioneering designer Willy Guhl. He opened his own studio in 1968, working on an innovative chair design that was mass-produced in 1971 by Dietiker in Stein am Rhein. The 3300 chair, as it was originally called, later became Rey, the most popular Swiss chair of all time. HAY collaborated with Dietiker to present the Rey collection by Bruno Rey, including the Rey chair, Rey stool and bar stool, as well as the Rey table and coffee table. .
The HAY brand was founded in 2002 in Denmark by the couple Rolf & Mette Hay. Inspired by art, architecture and fashion, the Hay couple wanted to produce designer furniture accessible to as many people as possible, reflecting the innovative grandeur of Danish design from the 1950s and 1960s. Hay places design at the center of the home and office with simple, functional and aesthetic products, in collaboration with contemporary artists and designers. Since 2018, HAY has been expanding and developing across the Atlantic by partnering with the American furniture company Herman Miller, whose historical heritage in design is no longer in doubt.
