PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

To ensure optimal results and reduce the risk of side effects, please follow these guidelines before your Juvéderm treatment:

• Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks before any special event to allow for possible swelling or bruising.• Avoid dental procedures for at least 2 weeks prior to your treatment.• Discontinue use of Aspirin, NSAIDs, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or other essential fatty acids for 3–7 days before and after your treatment to minimize bruising. (Consult your physician before stopping any prescribed medication.)• Avoid alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplements, high-sodium foods, refined carbs, spicy foods, and cigarettes for 24–48 hours before and after treatment.• Arnica supplements taken 2 days prior may help reduce bruising.• Notify your provider if you have a history of cold sores — an antiviral may be prescribed.• Do not have treatment if you have an active rash or irritation in the area being treated.• Juvéderm treatment is not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Following your Juvéderm treatment, your skin may be slightly sensitive or swollen. Follow these steps to ensure a smooth recovery:

• Redness or sensitivity may last a few hours post-treatment.• Use Tylenol for discomfort — avoid NSAIDs unless instructed.• Avoid pressing or massaging the treated area unless your provider advises it.• Avoid makeup for at least 12 hours.• Refrain from strenuous exercise for 24 hours.• Avoid sun, heat, or excessive exposure for 72 hours.• Apply a cool compress if swelling occurs, 15 minutes per hour as needed.• Sleep face-up with head slightly elevated to reduce swelling.• Postpone dental procedures for 2 weeks.• Wait at least 2 weeks before other facial treatments (facials, lasers, massages, or microdermabrasion).• Any remaining Juvéderm syringes will be held for 8 weeks for potential touch-ups.
