Tsushima nagura from old mine in Kyushu, these are similar in finish to aoto but without inclusions, these are analogous to a 2-3K in finish although it’s hard to directly compare synthetic stones with a measured grit to naturals. These will provide a coarser finish when used without slurry and with higher pressure, with the accumulation of used semi dry slurry the finish will become finer. 

These are easy to use, make a great edge for toothy knives that do not benefit from a finer finish or as use in a progression of stones after a more aggressive medium stone and before a finer finish. They can have a more consistent scratch pattern than most tamba aoto making them easier to use in progression. 

The future of the tsuchima mines is in question as of July 2025, they may not be available in the future. 

These are lacquered to prevent them from falling apart, it is important not to soak these, similar to other naturals.
